More of My Story

I grew up between the North Carolina pines and Charleston's cobblestone streets, with summers split between the mountains and the coast. Both of my grandmothers raised me on slow-cooked meals and even slower stories…one always at the stove (her mac and cheese is still the gold standard), and the other always mid-anecdote on the porch.

That's where this all started. Long before I was designing with fabrics or sourcing antiques, I was learning that a home isn't really about the things in it. It's about the way it makes you feel when you walk through the door.

We believe in simple ideas, strong relationships, and lasting impact. What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead.

The Porch Chatter

Most Treasured Family Recipe: Definitely my grandmother’s Thanksgiving dressing. My mom’s mother was an amazing southern cook. There’s a list of ingredients but no specific measurements. You have to make the biscuits and cornbread days ahead so they can dry out. And then it’s a family tradition to put it all together the night before. Everyone around the island has to taste it and say whether it needs more of this or that before it’s ready to cook.

Most Loved Antique Find: It’s not really my find but “B,” my dad’s mom, always found pieces with a story or liked to think about what the story behind a piece might be if she didn’t know it.  She had four engraved antique coin silver serving spoons that she’d found antiquing and used at home.  They were all worn on one side from years of stirring. She had each one shadow-boxed for me and my three girl cousins. It was such a special gift from her and always reminds me of listening to her tell stories about her childhood and her life with my grandfather, whom we never knew because he passed away before any of our parents were married.

Can’t Live Without: Always some French hand cream!

Color I Could Use on Every Project: I don’t have a specific color that would always be my go to, but I do love to have at least a little bit of blue - even if it’s not the dominant color in every space.  Whether it’s a navy or a soft earthy french one or anything in between it always makes a room feel complete to me.

Best Trip I Have Ever Taken: I love to travel so it’s hard to single out a favorite, but as my children are now all in different places and getting everyone together is increasingly difficult, I’d have to say that any trip the five of us get to go on is the most treasured - even if it’s just that we get to meet up somewhere for a weekend.

Front Porch or Back Patio: We have a back deck in the mountains that is really my happy place. I love to sit and rock with a morning beverage or an evening cocktail and hang out with our children or entertain friends. It’s some of my most treasured time.

Handcrafted Cocktail of Choice: Manhattan or Vodka Martini
